Lisa Vetten

Tuesday, November 19, 2002

Today we had a meeting with researcher and academic Lisa Vetton. There had been an accident on the MI – a petrol tanker overturned and burst into flames, and so the traffic was mad. At one point we all got out of the car and walked while Moshodane kept driving, and it became a race to see who would get there first – we did.

Lisa was very interesting but depressing. She said that given the evidence the police have, she doubts if they will proceed with charging [the perpetrator] and it looks like I will fail in my mission and he will remain free. She talked about the problems with the justice system and why so few cases result in conviction. She said that Laura will have to find her healing from something else other than the justice system. This left me really despondent and also unclear if this outcome will work for the film? I doubt it will work for Laura.
