The perpetrator comes up with an alibi

Monday, November 18, 2002

Our crew call this morning is for 7.30am – one of those ridiculous early morning meetings with Arnold, but it will set the tone for how this week will play out. I am so in need of a big break, some good news, a positive development.

Instead, today was a dreadful day, one of the worst. I really feel like things have bogged down and I am getting nowhere and feel very despondent and depressed. We met with Arnold this morning and he was reluctant to show me the alibi and information provided by [the perpetrator] and his family. After pushing him he did show me the photos, but it was impossible to tell whether they are authentic and relate to the 22 December or not. The hospital records were all there finally. Arnold says that he is now just waiting on the fingerprints and then he will present all this evidence to the prosecutor and its up to them to decide if they will press charges. He said there is nothing more that I can do. This left me feeling helpless and frustrated.
