Today we went out to Fourways to visit my brother Michael and his two daughters, Candy and Karen. He clearly loves both his daughters and they love him. It’s great to see.
We drove home as the darkness hit the streets and for the first time since we’ve been here, both Aliison and I felt some anxiety about being out without our security guard. Stopping at traffic lights in narrow streets with low lighting had us looking in all the mirrors and watching every passer-by for sudden movements. We got home safely and resolved to restrict our night time driving to absolute necessities and to staying in the very brightly lit suburbs. We have both made a resolution that nothing bad is going to happen to us, but we know that means acting with extreme caution at all times and not taking undue risks.
