I felt like the project really started today. We had a very encouraging meeting with a lawyer and did our first real filming. Moshodane arrived at 9am and we went off to meet Crystal, the lawyer Charlene Smith had recommended. She agreed to discuss the situation with us again after we’d spoken to the Prosecutor’s Office. Then we came across the music. It was glorious. Wild, energetic, vibrant and joyful – a visual treat. The camera loved it. Drumming singing, dancing. I took stills and shot plenty of video. I haven’t watched it back yet, so I can’t say how good it is, but it felt good. It captured the joy and exuberant energy of Africa that I was hoping to find. And this is only our second day here.
