I went to the Australian International Documentary Conference in Perth and was able to get initial interest in the idea of this film from the ABC and the BBC. My partner and I also managed to get some development funding from the Australian Film Commission and the NSW Film and TV office to help cover the costs of the first research and exploration trip in June 2001. Just before I set off, Laura told me she would like to see the perpetrator found and confronted, and made aware of the damage he had done to her.
