I took Laura to the hospital for an examination prior to her admission next Monday for her first nose operation, and began to understand some of the problems she’s had dealing with the General Hospital – lots of waiting and an overall inefficiency. We spoke to Ruth Benjamin, a therapist. She’s nice and seems sympathetic.
So we both felt more positive when we got home. I made a good dinner. I have been trying to ensure that we eat well and get good balance meals. We’re just not getting enough exercise. So much talking and thinking. I have to find a way to gently translate this into action.
Tonight I explained to Laura how lack of recognition of her grief from those who can’t or won’t give it creates a vicious circle leading to further despair. She responded really well to it and began to see the source of some of her anguish, particularly in relation to her father, Peter (my father), and Michael (my brother).
